Currently at the noon hour on Wednesday, a line of strong thunderstorms is quickly approaching the area. This line of storms will push through with some gusty winds and a quick downpour.

Expect thunderstorms to move through the west side of the county between 12:30-1:15 and the east side of the county shortly after.

Once this line passes, skies will break back open to partly to mostly sunny. Expect the remainder of the afternoon to be mainly rain free. A breezy southwest wind will still remain.

The next chance for another line of showers and thunderstorms will be during the mid to late evening hours. Even then, anything will come and go in a short period of time.

Tonight will be an interesting night across most of the area. A line of strong thunderstorms extending from Toronto to Cleveland are currently racing off to the ENE. Thunderstorms closer to Cleveland have really packed and those will move into our area later tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will begin to enter Monroe County around 10pm. We will have to keep an eye out for thunderstorms producing strong damaging winds tonight. Heavy rainfall will also be a concern.

In other news, the National Weather Service in Buffalo has placed all of Western New York under a High Wind Warning from 6am to 10pm Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, sustained wind speeds around town will be around 30mph with gusts in excess of 50mph.

UPDATE 10 PM from J.M. Fuller: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Cattaraugus, western Allegany, and Chautauqua Counties in New York as well as Warren and McKean Counties in Pennsylvania, by the respective NWS offices in Buffalo and State College. Strong winds and possible hail are cited as risks for this storm. This is in addition to the high wind warning that takes effect tomorrow morning. A full forecast update for these regions will follow with the regularly scheduled Weekend Outlook on Saturday morning.
