This is officially Indian Summer: WNYPAON 10/20-22
Compared to last week, when temperatures dropped day over day until accumulating snow was falling by Friday, this week will be quite literally the exact opposite of that. We experienced our first major frost in Little Valley the other day, and it was a sight to behold, for sure, with the frost caked on thick to many of the bare branches giving them a white, wintry look. Now that the frost has passed, and weather is expected to warm up, this can officially be called an “Indian summer.”
High pressure is anchored over the Southeastern United States, in a perfect position to steer warm southwesterly winds over the Western New York/Northern Pennsylvania/Niagara regions this week.
Tuesday: mostly sunny, afternoon highs around 60. A hair warmer in Niagara (16-17 C). Clear skies for Tuesday night, and lows in the upper 40s by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday: mostly sunny, even warmer, highs in the low to mid-60s (17-18 C in Niagara). Temperatures fall into the low 40s by Thursday morning.
Thursday: mostly sunny, a slight but not particularly noticeable cool-off, with highs dropping into the upper 50s (14-15 C).
