A so-so weekend in store for Western and Central New York. A cool front has pushed through and is stalling out over Eastern New York this morning. Still with a good amount of moisture in the lower levels of the atmosphere and our close proximity to the front, we will have to keep the chance of a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the forecast this weekend.

Saturday will be the warmer of the two weekend days as temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to near 80. Morning sunshine will give way to the development of late morning cumulus clouds as the surface begins to heat. These clouds will lead to a few isolated showers and storms by early afternoon. It’s important to stress that most areas will remain dry.

The chance for showers and storms will continue into Saturday night. Again, these will be hit and miss and not everyone will get in on the action. Lows will range from the upper 50s inland, to low 60s lakeside/metro.

Cooler air will really begin to spill into Western and Central New York tomorrow. A day similar to the one on Saturday in terms of precipitation chances, but highs will only make it to the mid 70s for the Genesee Valley and low 70s for the Oswego area.

We will begin to dry out early this week and begin to moderate temperatures back into the 80s until another cold front sends temperatures back into the low 70s by later in the week.
