As the western United States continues to get grilled under the sun, us New Yorkers in the northeast are wondering where the heck summer is!? I’ve taken a gander at the GFS extended forecast to see if there was any light at the end of this apparent 100 mile tunnel.

Once this upper lever low moves out of our region Saturday night, some nice changes will be taking place. An area of high pressure in the Atlantic Ocean will begin to creep back towards the coastline giving us in Syracuse a southerly wind. This wind will push the warmth from the south up into our next of the woods giving us a nice boost in our high temperatures.

After a cooler upcoming weekend with highs in the low 70s, we will begin to feel the warmth this coming Monday as highs will climb into the upper 70s. Warm air advection will be our friend as highs will climb into the low 80s for Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will see highs in the mid 80s and Friday and Saturday will be the warmest with highs in the upper 80s!! Finally, summer visits the Empire State after its long awaited arrival! Those hot summer days we’ve been waiting are here to stay……right?

Unfortunately all good things must come to and end. Mother nature teases us with a nice stretch of warm days next week before pulling the plug and allowing a trough of cooler air to end our warm streak on Sunday the 26th. Just what you wanted to hear, I know.

So get outside and enjoy the hot weather while it’s here next week. But wait, will it be nice and dry when it warms up? Stay tuned…
